This section lists the subsystems (and their sizes in 512-byte blocks) of gopher.
If you are installing this product for the first time, the subsystems marked ``default'' are the ones that are installed if you use the ``go'' menu item. To install a different set of subsystems, use the ``install,'' ``remove,'' ``keep,'' and ``step'' commands in inst to customize the list of subsystems to be installed, then select the ``go'' menu item.
Note: The listed subsystem sizes are approximate. Refer to the Software Installation Administrator's Guide for information on finding exact sizes.

All of the subsystems for gopher can be installed using IRIX. You do not need to use the miniroot. Refer to the Software Installation Administrator's Guide for complete installation instructions.
If you plan on running a gopher server, you will need to edit the file /usr/freeware/etc/gopherd.conf in addition to installing the fw_UMINNgopher.sw.gopherd subsystem. This file should be edited following the comments in the file and the gopherd(8) and gopherd.conf(8) man pages.
If you only plan to use the gopher client software, you can just install it an it should run. For more information about the client, please see the documentation available in gopher(1).To run a server, you should first read the gopherd(8) documentation. This manual contains full documentation on installation of the gopher daemon installed in /usr/freeware/etc/gopherd.
